Fly from Maun to Vumbura Airstrip ~35 minutes flight time or from Kasane ~1h20 flight time. From the airstrip, transfers typically run ~35 minutes by vehicle plus ~5 minutes by boat into camp when water levels allow. There is no self-drive access.
In North, the family units are ideal for groups needing two bedrooms and a shared deck and pool; couples should request an end-of-walkway suite in either camp for maximum privacy and the widest floodplain vistas.
Dining is refined but unfussy, with daily-changing, seasonal menus served on the deck or in the open-sided dining areas; private deck dinners are easy to arrange. Expect local touches such as tswii (water-lily root) dishes and phapata fire-bread, alongside grilled Botswana beef, fresh salads and thoughtful vegetarian options.
Pack neutral layers for cool dawns and warm middays, a light rain shell for summer storms, polarized sunglasses and a wide-brim hat, binoculars, and a soft duffel that meets bush-flight rules.
A sunrise mokoro followed by a late brunch is a signature Vumbura rhythm; when water is high, combine a boat out with a game-drive back for variety. Ask guides about the current wild-dog ranges and recent sable sightings on the open plains.
The camps operate on community-leased land with the Okavango Community Trust, channeling revenue into jobs, training and anti-poaching support while running low-impact, solar-led operations across the concession.
