Two lovingly restored Cape Dutch homes - 20 Bath (1854) and 30 Bath (1856) - set on a quiet street in Montagu with citrus-potted courtyards, a glass succulent conservatory and country-style pools that feel like old farm dams. Interiors blend antiques and contemporary art. Mornings roll into garden-sourced breakfasts and slow pool hours, while winter brings fireplaces and deep bathtubs with the Karoo air outside.

Our Favorite Rooms

20 Bath – Suite 1 for a cocooned, courtyard-view set-up with ample seating and a large bath for winter soaks. 20 Bath – Suite 2 adds a spacious desk for writing days and calm, layered decor. 30 Bath – Suite 1 is the most generous at 30 Bath with workspace and seating for long stays, while 30 Bath – Suite 2 is sunniest, its double doors opening from the bathroom onto the terrace for easy, robe-and-slippers mornings.

Dining

Breakfast included on per-room stays (seasonal ingredients from the garden and surrounds). Private dinners available by prior arrangement (3 courses; min 4 people).

Tips

Packing Tips

Soft layers for crisp winter evenings, a light shell for mountain breezes, swimsuit for the farm pool, walking shoes for village and kloof paths, and a good book for the library.

Insider Tips

Ask the hosts to set breakfast in the glass succulent conservatory on a cool morning (or under the citrus trees when it’s warm) and have them squeeze the house lemon/orange juice from the garden. Then borrow a map and take the Lovers’ Walk river path right after, when the mountains are still pink and the village is quiet.
