For the fastest transfer fly to Chem Chem private airstrip then continue ~40 minutes by road to Little Chem Chem. You can also get to the lodge via road from Arusha ~2 hours drive or from Kilimanjaro (JRO) ~3 h 30 min drive. The Lake Manyara Airstrip is about ~1 h 30 min dive from the lodge.
The exclusive use lodge, consists of four tents with an additional family suite that adds space and a second bedroom this is an ideal set-up for multi-generational groups taking the camp privately.
Private-camp style: seasonal, chef-led menus with deck dinners and under-baobab set-ups, house wines/spirits included. This is "unfussy" fine dining at its best. Expect Tanzanian flavours alongside grilled meats and fresh salads, bespoke timings are easy with exclusive-use.
Neutral layers (cool winter dawns Jun–Aug), a light rain shell (Nov–Apr), wide-brim hat and polarized sunglasses, swimsuit for the pool, soft daypack for binoculars/camera.
Plan a sunrise hill-climb followed by a long bush brunch; set one evening for the photography hides and another for a night drive in the WMA. With the camp to yourselves, keep plans flexible for extended “tusker time” or a full-day foray into Tarangire.
Chem Chem (via the Chem Chem Association) funds rangers, coexistence work and education across ~20,000 ha linking Tarangire and Manyara; operations at Forest are low-impact and community-staffed.
