Our Favorite Rooms

Riverbend suites that look straight onto the oxbow pool feel wonderfully immersive with hippo theatrics through the day, sunrise lovers ask for suites angled to first light across the riverine forest, the Family Suite is the pick for groups wanting a bigger deck, private plunge pool and the shortest walk to the main area.

Dining

An interactive kitchen anchors the lodge’s food story with guest-led menus, nights often move to the riverfront boma for artisanal pizzas and a salt-crusted, whole-baked fish that nods to nearby Lake Victoria, the circular bar shakes signature sundowners; Chef Jackson is frequently on the pans at the kitchen pass.

Packing Tips

Breathable long sleeves for sunny drives, a light windproof for cool dawns, closed shoes for sandy paths and boardwalks, a headlamp for late returns, and a soft duffel if linking by light aircraft.

Insider Tips

In June–July ask your guide to work the main crossing points at first light, pre-book a sunrise hot-air balloon, and between drives slip into the interactive kitchen to help the team finish a pizza in the boma oven; have them check the fig trees near camp for the resident black-and-white colobus.

Conservation Efforts

The lodge’s rebuild added solar generation, low-energy fittings, water-wise systems and wastewater recycling to lighten its footprint in a sensitive riverine belt; guides also log key sightings data across the Western Corridor. Stays support community education and water projects through &Beyond’s Wild Impact partnership, and brand-wide the group co-founded Rhinos Without Borders to translocate rhino to safer habitats.
