Fly by light aircraft from Maun to Hunda/Jao Airstrip ~35-40min flight time; followed by a ~10–15 min road transfer to camp. In high water, transfers may be a short drive plus a ~10-minute boat ride.
The Family Unit (two inter-leading tents) is ideal for families; couples seeking maximum privacy should request an end tent for the widest floodplain outlooks.
Full-board with wholesome, pan-African menus served communally or al-fresco; bush brunches and boma evenings feature when weather allows. Dietary needs are well handled.
Neutral layers (mornings can be cool), a warm jacket for winter evenings, sun hat, sunglasses, swimsuit for the pool, and soft-sided duffel (see baggage limits). Wilderness offers complimentary laundry, so you can pack light.
Book the Tubu Star Bed sleep-out (about 20 minutes from camp) in dry months; it’s seasonal and manager-dependent. Combine Tubu with a more water-focused camp if visiting outside peak flood (May–Sep) to guarantee mokoro/boating.
Wilderness supports on-the-ground conservation in the Okavango, focusing on curbing poaching and over-fishing while funding community partnerships, research and low-impact energy use. Staying here directly supports that model within the Jao Reserve.
