Fly-in: From Windhoek to Doro Nawas airstrip; ~5–10 min road transfer to camp. Self-drive: ~6–7 hrs from Windhoek (via Outjo/C39) or 4–5 hrs from Swakopmund. Roads are a mix of tar and good gravel; 4×4 recommended in the wet.
The Family Unit provides two bedrooms and a shared deck, ideal for parents who want proximity without splitting rooms. All chalets feature large sliding doors, mosquito-netted beds that can be rolled to the roof sleep-out, indoor shower (some with outdoor shower), writing desk, fan, and a lantern-lit rooftop platform made up with full bed linen on request.
Hearty, unfussy Namibian-inspired cuisine: cooked breakfasts (or packed bush breakfasts), fresh salads and breads at lunch, and plated dinners or boma evenings with local game (e.g., oryx), stews and vegetarian options; private star-deck dinners can be set up on request.
Very strong sun and wide temperature swings: long-sleeve layers, broad-brim hat, SPF 50, light down/fleece for winter nights (Jun–Aug), closed shoes for rocky walks, a headlamp for roof sleep-outs, and a buff for dust on elephant drives.
Book the rooftop sleep-out on your first clear night (teams set up full linens); aim your elephant tracking early when herds use the cool riverbeds. Time Twyfelfontein for first/last light to avoid heat and crowds.
Stays help finance Doro !Nawas Conservancy operations, anti-poaching, human–wildlife coexistence and community employment, while the lodge runs low-impact, solar-assisted systems in a fragile desert ecosystem.
