From Kigali to Bisate it is a ~2.5–3 hrs drive. Helicopter (Akagera Aviation): ~30 mins from Kigali to Musanze/Bisate helipad; followed by a ~5-min road transfer from Bisate helipad or ~30-min from Musanze helipad to the lodge.
All six are identical in layout; higher villas (e.g., 5–6) have the biggest views but many stairs; lower villas (1–2) suit guests wanting less uphill walking.
Refined Rwandan-inspired, seasonal menus in the main restaurant and wine cellar; private in-villa dining on request. Head Chef Angelus Karangwa; signatures have included Bisate Butter Chicken and Tilapia & Passion-Fruit Beurre Blanc.
Sturdy waterproof boots, layered thermals, rain jacket, gardening gloves for vines, gaiters (lodge provides), small daypack; bring spare socks for post-trek.
Park HQ is ~20 minutes’ drive—be ready for early starts. Book gorilla permits well in advance (peak demand). Don’t miss tree-planting at the on-site nursery. No nightly lodge levy; park permits charged separately (e.g., Gorilla US$1,500 pp/trek; Golden monkey US$100 pp/trek)
