The newest and most intimate of andBeyond's Botswana Under Canvas camps, opened in March 2026, Sandibe Under Canvas brings expedition safari back to the Okavango, just three spacious canvas tents for a maximum of six guests, set in the predator-rich Sandibe/Chitabe private concession just south of the Moremi Game Reserve, inspired by the classic 1920s mobile safari, it trades excess luxury for a raw, close-range connection with the wild, earthy interiors in greens, light wood and woven fibre, insect-proof netted tents with hot running water, and firelit dinners under star-dense skies, this is dry-land predator country, so days run on twice-daily open-vehicle game drives and walking safaris with expert andBeyond guides, with lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog common year-round and the bush moving freely through an unfenced camp.

Our Favorite Rooms

Three spacious canvas tents on raised wooden platforms with a terrace and armchairs, well spaced for privacy and blended into the bush, each with a super king bed, an en-suite bathroom with double showers and vanities above a wooden deck, hot running water and flushing toilets, standing fans, insect-proof netting, in-room power packs and USB ports, and, a first for the Botswana Under Canvas camps, Starlink Wi-Fi.

Dining

Social, grounded dining shaped by andBeyond's Botswana chef Murray Weakley, freshly prepared meals cooked over an open fire and shared under the stars or in the boma, with picnic lunch baskets delivered to your tent or out in the bush, all meals and drinks (soft drinks, house wines, local spirits and beers) included.

Packing Tips

Neutral safari layers with a warm jacket, beanie and gloves for cold winter dawn drives (June–August), lighter clothing for the hot October build-up, closed shoes for walking safaris, a sun hat, sunscreen and binoculars, insect repellent and antimalarials, a headtorch, plenty of camera gear (this is superb predator country), and a soft bag (~20 kg) for the light aircraft.

Insider Tips

This is a dry-land, drives-and-walks camp, so come for the predators, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog are common here year-round, rather than water safaris (its sister camp Nxabega Under Canvas is the one for mokoro and fishing). Being tiny at three tents, it's superb for an exclusive-use family or friends' buyout, and the expedition style keeps it authentic and close-range without going fully back to basics (there's even Starlink Wi-Fi).

Conservation Efforts

Designed for minimal impact, the camp runs on a solar plant with in-room power packs and vehicle charging, and shares logistics with neighbouring andBeyond lodges to reduce its footprint in the UNESCO-listed Delta. True to andBeyond's "Care of the Land, Wildlife and People" ethos, it partners through Wild Impact with the nearby communities of Shorobe, Sexaxa, Gogomoga and Tsutsubega, supporting employment, mentorship and conservation awareness.
