A contemporary tented jewel on a bend of the seasonal Monwana River, nine vast glass-fronted suites and Little Saseka’s private villa look over the riverbed with private plunge pools, lantern-lit riverbed dinners and twice-daily Big Five game drives led by Thornybush’s masterful guiding teams; “Saseka” means “beautiful” in Tsonga, a neat bit of trivia for sundowners.

Our Favorite Rooms

Guests who want the quietest outlook tend to request tents set furthest along the riverbend for long, private views from the pool deck, and families choose Little Saseka for its exclusive lounge, dining space and included private vehicle.

Dining

Playful, chef-driven and sense-of-place: shakshuka breakfasts and macaroons for tea, light “health bowl” lunches on the deck, wood-fired or tapas-style bites some days, and polished three-course dinners or dramatic riverbed buffets by lantern; the kitchen has featured Chef Odette Olivier, with pastry signatures like panna cotta by Megan Barclay.

Packing Tips

Neutral layers for crisp dawns and warm middays, a light windproof for winter drives, swimsuit for your plunge pool, polarized sunglasses, soft-soled shoes for timber decks and a soft duffel if flying light aircraft.

Insider Tips

Ask the team to stage a lantern-lit riverbed dinner on a still night, order shakshuka at first light and health bowls at lunch then keep room for the pastry kitchen’s panna cotta, and build in one Wellness Centre treatment between drives.
