Drive from Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) Airport, approx. 1 hour via the N2 towards Grahamstown/Makhanda.
The tents furthest from the main area offer the strongest sense of privacy and immersion in the bush. The standard tents are classic raised safari tents with private decks overlooking the valley, while the family tents connect via a shared balcony, making them ideal for families travelling together. Across all categories, expect en suite bathrooms, hot running water, king or twin bed configurations, electric blankets, and a simple, authentic safari aesthetic.
Dining is communal and relaxed, centred around the thatch-and-canvas main area and traditional boma. Expect hearty safari-style meals with a warm, social atmosphere and inclusive house beverages.
Neutral safari clothing, a warm layer for early morning drives, and comfortable shoes for time around camp and game drives.
This is less about ultra-luxury and more about atmosphere. The campfire, communal dining, and the elevated deck overlooking the plains are all part of the charm here.
Woodbury Tented Camp forms part of the 9,000-hectare Amakhala Game Reserve, a private conservation initiative focused on restoring wildlife and habitat within the Eastern Cape.
