We stayed in a Superior Junior Suite Garden View, which felt beautifully private, tucked away between manicured gardens and swaying palm trees. Guests wanting more direct ocean views can opt for the next category up, the Superior Junior Suite Ocean View. Other room categories include the Superior Suite King, Superior Suite King Ocean View, Superior Suite King Ocean View with Whirlpool, Two Bedroom Superior Family Suite, Two Bedroom Superior Family Suite Ocean View, Executive Suite King Ocean View with Private Pool, and the Two Bedroom Presidential Private Pool Suite Ocean View. The resort works best when balanced with a few off-property experiences — combine slower beach days with dhow trips, Stone Town, or snorkelling excursions to experience more of Zanzibar beyond the resort itself. The Mora also has its own app, where activities, spa treatments, and restaurant reservations can easily be managed. The à la carte restaurants are included in the stay, but reservations open only two days in advance and fill up quickly, so it’s worth logging in early in the morning to secure your preferred dining times.
The Mora focuses on reducing environmental impact through energy-conscious operations, local sourcing, and supporting community partnerships and marine awareness initiatives within Zanzibar. The also try to avoid as much plastic where possible.
