About a 30–40 minute drive (roughly 33 km) from OR Tambo International Airport (JNB), or around 15 minutes by Gautrain from the airport to Sandton station (about 550 m from the hotel, with a complimentary hotel shuttle), Lanseria Airport (HLA) is around 30–40 minutes by road for private/regional flights.
166 spacious, open-plan rooms and suites in contemporary white-and-black styling, all with air-conditioning, minibar, espresso maker, plasma TV, and marble bathrooms with a separate deep soaking tub and rainfall shower, bathrobes and slippers. Executive rooms and the upper-floor suites are the pick for their Sandton skyline views, while the Raphael penthouse suites (in the adjoining tower) are the top-end choice for longer or VIP stays.
DaVinci's gourmet restaurant serves European specialities and a sushi bar with indoor and outdoor seating, a full English (and cooked-to-order) breakfast each morning, plus a stylish bar and lounge and an exclusive whisky, wine and cigar lounge, with the dozens of restaurants and bars of Nelson Mandela Square and Sandton City on the doorstep.
City-smart clothing for Sandton's restaurants and business settings, a light layer for cool Highveld winter evenings (June–August) and strong sun year-round (Johannesburg sits at altitude, so sunburn comes quickly), swimwear for the infinity pool, and comfortable shoes for exploring the square and malls, no safari or malaria kit needed here.
Location is the whole point, you can reach Sandton City, the Convention Centre and the restaurants of Nelson Mandela Square on foot without ever stepping outside into traffic. Use the Gautrain (station a short walk or a free hotel shuttle away) to reach OR Tambo in about 15 minutes, far faster and safer than driving in rush hour. It's an excellent, secure first or last night either side of a safari, and the whisky-wine-and-cigar lounge is a nice touch for a relaxed evening
