A stylish yet relaxed little camp, the intimate sister to Sable Alley, Little Sable is the perfect hideout in the heart of the game-rich Khwai Private Reserve, a 200,000-hectare swathe of pristine wilderness in the Greater Okavango Delta region, bordered by Moremi to the south, Savuti to the north and the Khwai Community Reserve to the east, right in the middle of some of Africa’s most iconic game-viewing country. Just eight canvas tents are tucked among the trees overlooking a wildlife-rich lagoon, each with an en-suite bathroom and views of the plains, with a pool, viewing deck and a welcoming mess tent at its heart. Days run on both land and water, game drives, walking safaris, mokoro and boat trips (water levels permitting), in a private, big-game-rich concession teeming with elephant, lion, leopard and wild dog, intimate, unpretentious and superb value for the Delta.

Our Favorite Rooms

Eight canvas tents set among the trees, understated but stylish, each with an en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower, hairdryers, battery charging and Wi-Fi, and views over the game-rich surrounds. Six are twin/double tents for couples and friends, and two are family tents, making Little Sable one of the more family-friendly Natural Selection camps.

Dining

Warm, home-style cooking served in a convivial, relaxed style in the mess tent or out in the bush, all meals and drinks included on an all-inclusive basis, with bush breakfasts and sundowners in lovely spots, an intimate, sociable feel suited to small groups and solo travellers alike.

Packing Tips

Neutral safari layers with a warm jacket, beanie and gloves for cold winter dawn drives and mokoro outings (June–August), lighter clothing for the hot October build-up, closed shoes for walking safaris, a sun hat, sunscreen and binoculars, insect repellent and antimalarials, swimwear for the pool, a headtorch, camera gear, and a soft bag (~20 kg) for the light aircraft.

Insider Tips

Little Sable sits in the Khwai Private Reserve, a small, exceptionally game-dense concession that’s brilliant for predators (wild dog, lion and leopard) and, being private, allows off-road driving and night drives you can’t do inside neighbouring Moremi. Time a visit for the flood (roughly May–September) to add mokoro and boat safaris to the drives. It’s one of the better-value Delta camps and genuinely family-friendly (children 6+)

Conservation Efforts

Little Sable sits lightly within the 200,000-hectare Khwai Private Reserve, a privately protected buffer in the Greater Okavango ecosystem that keeps a vast, game-rich wilderness undisturbed. Through the Natural Selection Foundation, guests support the operator’s conservation and community initiatives across Botswana, and the camp runs on a low-impact model with careful resource use.
